The series picks up where Matt Reeves’s The Batman left off.  A power vacuum has been created in the wake of Carmine Falcone’s murder at the hands of The Riddler, and Oswald Cobblepot is bound and determined to fill it. However, that is not to say that the rest of Gotham’s criminal underworld will let him.

Craig Zobel, who directed the limited series The Mare of Easttown, is helming the eight-episode series, while Lauren LeFranc (Impulse, Agents of SHIELD) is writing the script. Colin Farrell, who reprises his role as Oswald Cobblepot from the film, will also executive-produce along with director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark. Farrell is joined by Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni. Maroni is infamous among comics fans as the man who disfigured D.A. Harvey Dent in court with acid, unleashing his dual personality of Two-Face.

The Penguin is set to release on Max later this year.

During an interview with The Comics Cube (via The Direct), Campbell said that classic villains like Brainiac, General Zod, and Lex Luthor were restricted from use in the first season.

“Some of it was… Warner Bros… and I think it was a good note,” she said. “Like our big execs on Warner Brothers were like, ‘Well, these are the big hitters that everybody’s seen and everybody’s expecting. And we’ve seen this a million times, so we want your twists on things.'”

Campbell continued, “And I think it was Sam Register and Audrey Diehl, who were doing notes with us, were like, ‘These characters take up the whole screen. They kind of suck the air out because they’re so famous, and there’s so many expectations, so hold off on them. Hold off on these characters, and build the story how you see fit.'”

They did manage to at least get a tease of Brainiac and Zod in the season one finale, which should mean more of these characters in the next season, which is exciting.

My Adventures With Superman is currently available to watch on Max and stars Jack Quaid as Clark Kent/Superman, Alice Lee as Lois Lane, and Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen.

News of her death broke on X (formerly Twitter) from fellow voice actor Neil Kaplan, who said, “It broke my heart to hear… the original voice of Harley Quinn, Arleen Sorkin has passed away. I adored her work as HQ & as Calliope in “Days of Our Lives.””

Tara Strong, who took over the role of Harley Quinn in most animated versions after Sorkin, also tweeted out, saying, “Without this gorgeous, talented goddess, #HarleyQuinn would have never existed. Arleen Sorkin voiced Harley Quinn in various pieces of media from 1992 until her last outing as the character in 2012 in the video game DC Universe Online: The Last Laugh. She also served as the inspiration for the creation of the character itself, as she was college friends with Batman: The Animated Series writer and producer Paul Dini.

Over her 20 year career as the Clown Princess of Crime, Sorkin could be heard on shows like The New Batman Adventures, Superman: The Animated Series, Gotham Girls, Static Shock, Justice League, and even the movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, as well as several video games, including Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Sorkin’s first big role was on the soap opera Days of Our Lives as Calliope Jones from 1984-1990, reprising the role several times throughout the years, even as recently as 2010. She also served as the co-host of America’s Funniest People alongside Dave Coulier from 1990-1992

Her passing comes less than a year after the death of the iconic voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, making this even harder to accept. Arleen Sorkin will be greatly missed by us all.

From Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, the film will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD on September 12, 2023.

The release will also include an all-new featurette Kevin Conroy: I Am The Knight, which takes a look at the legacy of Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman for 30 years in film, television, video games and more.

Rooted in DC’s acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series and released theatrically on Christmas Day 1993, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm has not only been ranked by Time magazine as one of the 10 best Super Hero movies ever, but is also arguably the core fans’ all-time favorite Batman film. The movie has been rated at the top of the Dark Knight film franchise by such popular entertainment media as Empire, Screenrant and Paste. And in the ultimate mainstream salute for its time, Gene Siskel & Robert Ebert didn’t initially review the film during its theatrical release, but later dedicated a portion of their At The Movies weekly TV series to pay compliment to the film – and voice their regret for not giving it the attention it deserved during its original run – when Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was distributed for home entertainment.

The 4K HDR/SDR remaster of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was sourced from the 1993 Original Cut Camera Negative and was scanned at 4K resolution. Digital restoration was applied to the 4K scans to remove dirt, scratches and additional anomalies, but special care was given to not touch the film grain or the animation cel dirt that was part of the original artwork. This is the first time since its theatrical release that it is presented in its 1.85 aspect ratio. The original 2.0 mix and the 5.1 tracks were remastered to remove or improve defects such as pops, ticks, dropouts and distortion.

The animated film features an all-star cast headed by the quintessential voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, alongside Dana Delany (Desperate Housewives, China Beach) as Bruce Wayne’s love interest, Andrea Beaumont, Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise) as the Joker, Stacy Keach (Nebraska, Prison Break, Mike Hammer) as Phantasm/Carl Beaumont, Abe Vigoda (Barney Miller, The Godfather) as Salvatore Valestra, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. (The F.B.I.) as Alfred, Hart Bochner (Die Hard) as Arthur Reeves, Bob Hastings (McHale’s Navy, The Poseidon Adventure) as Commissioner Gordon, Robert Costanzo (Forget Paris, City Slickers) as Detective Bullock, Dick Miller (Gremlins, The Terminator) as Chuckie Sol, and John P. Not much is known about the story, but, from the looks of the short teaser trailer, it seems that Harley Quinn and the Joker will be center stage in this new series. There looks to be a lot of action and mythological creatures, and we even get a quick shot of Amanda Waller.

Isekai is a genre of fiction that revolves around a person or people who are transported to and have to survive in another world, such as a fantasy world or parallel universe. This most likely means that Harley Quinn, Joker, and the rest of the Suicide Squad will find themselves in an unknown land full of these strange, mythological creatures we see in the trailer, and will probably have to fight to get back to their world. But that’s just my own speculation.

During their panel at Anime Expo 2023, the companies unveiled the teaser. Director Eri Osada is helming the project, together with Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara as screenplay writers, Akira Amano working on the character design draft, Naoto Hosoda handling character design, and Kenichiro Suehiro composing the music.

“I am very happy to be working as a director on this all new anime series based an DC’s Suicide Squad characters.” Osada recently commented. “I can’t tell you which character yet, but the villain I wanted to have appears in this Suicide Squad ISEKAI, and I hope you will enjoy it too.”

According to Makkos, Harley Quinn will return for its fourth season this summer, and will presumably pick up after the events of season three — Poison Ivy is running the Legion of Doom, Harley Quinn has given up villainy, Bruce Wayne is in prison for tax evasion, and Batgirl is leading the Bat Family (which now includes Harley). What kind of insanity will result from all of this? You’ll have to wait until season four to find out.

Makkos also confirmed that the Kite Man spin-off is still on the way, and has a new name — Kite Man: Hell Yeah! Originally titled Noonan’s, this series will center on the HQ side character (and former fiance of Poison Ivy), Kite Man, and his time running Noonan’s bar, which is seen numerous times throughout Harley Quinn. It was revealed that the series will highlight the titular character even further as he teams up with iconic DC rogues like Bane and Lex Luthor.

Kite Man: Hell Yeah! has already received a series order for ten episodes and may possibly get set up in the upcoming fourth season of Harley Quinn.

Kite Man: Hell Yeah! does not have an official release date set yet for Max.

According to Deadline, The Penguin was set to film Tuesday in Westchester, NY, but WGA East picketers, Teamsters, and local guilds refused to cross the picket line.

The series picks up where Matt Reeves’s The Batman left off.  A power vacuum has been created in the wake of Carmine Falcone’s murder at the hands of The Riddler, and Oswald Cobblepot is bound and determined to fill it. However, that is not to say that the rest of Gotham’s criminal underworld will let him.

“It starts a week after The Batman ends, so Gotham is still somewhat underwater,” Farrell previously told Extra, referring to The Batman’s third act that saw Paul Dano’s Riddler instigate a plan to flood Gotham.

Craig Zobel, who directed the limited series The Mare of Easttown, is set to helm the eight-episode series. Lauren LeFranc (Impulse, Agents of SHIELD) is set to pen the script. Farrell will also executive-produce along with director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark. Colin Farrell reprises his role as Cobblepot from the film, and is joined by Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni. Maroni is infamous among comics fans as the man who disfigured D.A. Harvey Dent in court with acid, unleashing his dual personality of Two-Face.

The Penguin joins Daredevil: Born Again, Billions, P-Valley, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, and several others on the list of shows that have temporarily shuttered production because of the strike. The writing work has also ceased on Stranger Things, Cobra Kai, Abbott Elementary, Severance, Good Trouble, and Yellowjackets.

The Penguin does not yet have a release date.
